Marin County, located immediately north of San Francisco, is a mix of suburban development and natural areas of striking beauty. The county relies on a varied based of economic activities, with tourism playing a major role. Many people in the county commute to work in San Francisco. Other important sources of income for the county include the art community, centred on Sausalito, and San Quentin prison, located on the bay. Marin County is a centre of innovation particularly in computer graphics and animation, due to the presence of major players such as Lucas in the area.
