San Jose/Santa Clara County Dwelling Characteristics

The maps below give a feel for the kind of dwellings people live in across San Jose/Santa Clara County.  Each neighbourhood in the maps is coloured, with the colours representing variation in a theme.  Lightest colours represent smaller values, while darker colour represent higher values.

The first map highlights areas with large numbers of older (pre-1970) dwellings, while the second map illustrates neighbourhoods with high numbers of large (4+ bedroom) dwellings.

Often, people with the largest homes (the most affluent residents of the area) tend to live in places with a superior view.  The U-shaped ring of large homes around San Jose corresponds with a higher area offering a view of San Jose proper.
